Wrinkles in Time
When I was a kid, mom and dad (mostly dad) collected Wrinkles plush toys.
There were the iconic dogs, there were elephants, there were even moose, and we built up a pretty big collection. Dad was (is) a kid at heart and entertained me with them throughout my childhood.
At one point, when he decided it was time to part with some of them, we piled a batch of puppies into the back seat of the minivan—buckled up for safety!—and took them to their new home. The new caretaker was thrilled and as amused as we were, even if the whole thing was kinda bittersweet.
Look, we’re a family that’s easy to amuse, and I was raised on slapstick and absurd humour. It fits.
Each Wrinkles toy was sold with a fabric bone and had a leather tag with a number on it, kind of like a real dog tag. They had the bone logo embroidered in their ear, too, so you’d know you had a real Wrinkles dog.
I recently learned that Ganz Bros, the company behind Wrinkles, is a Canadian company, and that the toys themselves were designed by Canadian artist Catherine Senitt. Senitt had her own line of puppets for twenty years, too—like this chicken shoulder bag. HELLO???
What got me diving down that rabbit hole?
Well… dad decided it’s time to part with another batch of Wrinkles, so, we dragged a big bag of ’em out of storage and are going through them in the store right now.

There will soon be 18 precious pups (and a couple moose and elephants) looking for a new home, just in time for Christmas, at Treasures by the Locks.
Contact us if you’re looking for a specific pup, and watch our social media pages for pictures. We’ll be posting them shortly.
So, do you remember Wrinkles?
