Summer #4 Done & Dusted!

Summer of 2024 marks our fourth(!) running our own brick-and-mortar shop.

It’s hard to believe that Treasures has made it this far. It hasn’t been easy, and we still have a lot to learn, but it’s been very interesting.

There were no major disasters this past summer, thankfully. The building finally got painted (the same colour as it was, sigh) and two big nests of wasps were evicted! I have no idea how big, I’m just willing to bet that the resident nuthatches will have a much quieter nesting season in 2025.

With autumn now upon us and winter creeping ever-closer (I’m sorry, I’m sorry!) we’re looking at ways to improve our consignment process, and considering what to do over the quiet months to help keep the lights on.

Instead of doing anything auction-related, I’m going to be pushing more online sales through social media and our website. We have those things, we might as well use them! I’m considering a flat-rate shipping model that will be fair to our customers and to us, though I don’t plan on listing anything that’s HUGE.

Here’s hoping we get some snow this winter, though, as it was really freaking eerie not having any snowmobiles around. Winter 2024 felt like an episode of The Twilight Zone, I swears it.
