This Heinz pickle die cut bookmark was produced sometime between 1893 and 1904. They are occasionally marketed as Heinz trade cards, and most of the designs feature little girls within the pickle.

The chef bookmark advertises Heinz tomato soup and was the only design featuring a man. It was also the only design where the figure stood out from the pickle!

You can learn more about the entire line from the ifobookmarks.org website!

See the photographs for more details on this piece. It was found in a box of 1880s-1920s ephemera that I purchased from an auction in 2022—everything was remarkably well-preserved, and this is no exception.

Images were captured on my MFC-J497DW scanner. This was not touched up. I imagine this bookmark was put away and not taken back out until I obtained it!

Get your hands on this chef’s pickle before it’s gone. 😉

Piece measures approximately 6.5″ x 2.5″.
